   China reported 50 new confirmed cases of coronavirus on October 22, up from 43 the day before, the country's health department said on Saturday. Meanwhile, India reported 13,451 new coronvirus infections, bringing the total number of COVID-19 infections to 34,215,653, with the number of active cases at the lowest level in 242 days, according to data released Wednesday by the Health Ministry of the Union.    

On the other hand, the total number of coronavirus cases in China rose on Saturday to nine as other parts of the country reported 38 sexually transmitted cases. China has reported 83 new sexually transmitted cases since August 10, said the health agency on Wednesday. This brings the total number of new infections reported in the past week to 583.  

Inner Mongolia accounted for half of the 38 new cases and infections reported in China on Monday. One country that is seeing an increase in the number of new infections is Hungary. According to official data, Hungary, which was one of the first EU member states to purchase and authorize the use of the Chinese vaccine on Friday, registered 6,369 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the national total to 452,547.    

In the last 24 hours, 356 COVID-19 deaths have been reported in the country bringing the death toll to 45,068. The number of deaths from infection has risen to 44,287.74, with 219 deaths recorded per day.

India has registered 27,254 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number in the country to 33,264,175. The National Center for Disease Control and Public Health of Georgia (NCDC) reported 4,411 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total to 68,100,182 and 29 deaths, bringing the death toll to 9,617, Xinhua reported. The outbreak of the second wave of Covids-19 in China has left the country's hospitals overcrowded with patients, while health authorities struggle to provide medical oxygen and life-saving drugs.   

Hong Kong, China, has experienced four outbreaks of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) since initiation of the severe acute respiratory syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in December 2019. While the number of COVID-19 cases has decreased worldwide, reports from China are considered worrying, with authorities predicting that there could be an increase in Covid-19 cases in the country, which could lead to a third pandemic wave.

China is also battling a cluster of cities in Zhengzhou in central China's Henan province that appears to be linked to people from Myanmar, an Asian nation struggling with a wave of violence.   

China on Thursday cancelled hundreds of flights, closed schools and conducted mass tests to prevent a new outbreak linked to a tourist group. The current outbreak is the third outbreak of Covid-19 infections since the start of the year in China.

In a virtual press conference this week, Dr. Matshidiso Moeti, the regional director of the World Health Organization for Africa, said Africa is experiencing a "third wave" of COVID-19 infections and is continuing its vaccination program. By last week, the country had given its population more than a billion doses of Covid-19 vaccine. The vaccination programme for Covids 19 began in the country on 16 January this year.

If countries remain nationalistic about vaccinations, a third wave looks increasingly likely.
